Psychotherapy for Adults and Couples

Sometimes we all need extra support or a safe place to turn when life seems overwhelming or confusing. Therapy can offer that support and provide a place to talk about things that may be difficult to share with anyone else. Whether you are struggling with life changes, feelings of sadness and anxiety, a sense of "stuckness", or ready to heal from past traumas, therapy can and does provide relief and a new way of living.

My approach comes from a place of hope and the belief that everyone has the capacity for personal growth and change. I view the clients I serve as experts in their own life and create a safe space for personal exploration in a compassionate and non-judgmental environment.  I see the therapeutic relationship as the vehicle for

change and healing.

I utilize my ongoing consultation and trainings in interpersonal neurobiology, attachment science and psychodynamic psychotherapy to help guide my work in collaboration with the client.  My work is warm, engaging, open, and sometimes may feel challenging, but is always centered on the client.

For clients wanting to work on past traumas or PTSD symptoms, we may decide to use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapy to assist with this work.

l am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas and have a Master's in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin (2001) and a Bachelor's in Social Work from Texas Woman's University (1996).

Before starting my private practice, I worked at a variety of non-profits and state agencies in Austin and the San Francisco Bay Area.  During that time I provided individual, group and family therapy, as well as supervision and social work training in a variety of settings, including:  The Haight-Ashbury Free Clinics, Dallas Child Guidance Center, Austin Independent School District, Communities In Schools, Workers Assistance Program-Employee Assistance Program, Austin Travis County Integral Care and the University of Texas Counseling and Mental Health Center.

Respect, safety and compassion will always be present during the therapeutic process and relationship.
